Jason P. Kane practices in a variety of areas involving civil litigation and transactional work. In general, Mr. Kane has represented construction contractors, franchisees, casinos, mine operators, shareholders, and private individuals. Mr. Kane has litigated cases in federal court, state court, the Federal Mine Safety and Health Review Commission, and private arbitration. Mr. Kane has litigated matters involving a variety of amounts at issue, with some cases involving amounts in excess of two million dollars.
His areas of practice include representing clients in contract disputes arising out of heavy highway construction projects, commercial construction, residential construction, franchise agreements, real estate, and insurance coverage. Mr. Kane also litigates mechanics’ lien actions, derivative actions, premises liability claims, eminent domain, claims arising out of mining operations, employment disputes, and covenant disputes.
In addition to having taken multiple cases to trial and arbitration, Mr. Kane practices appellate law in both state and federal courts. Mr. Kane has engaged in oral arguments before both the Colorado Court of Appeals and the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. Mr. Kane has also successfully defended an appeal before the Federal Mine Safety and Health Review Commission located in Washington D.C.
Mr. Kane also assists clients with forming business entities, drafting estate planning documents, and drafting contracts.
Before joining Ranson & Kane, P.C. in 2002, Mr. Kane served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable James F. Macrum Jr. of the Eighteenth Judicial District for the state of Colorado from 2001 to 2002. As a judicial law clerk, Mr. Kane conducted research projects at the trial court level and provided assistance with County Court appeals to the District Court.
